Choose the right structure
Start with what your
business needs to achieve.
Whether you want to acquire equipment, retain access to machinery or release capital from existing assets, the finance structure should reflect the asset, your cash flow and your plans for the business.
Our role is to understand your requirements, approach lenders from our panel and explain the options available. We do not lend money or guarantee an approval.
Asset finance
Acquire, use or refinance
machinery and vehicles.
Hire purchase
For businesses that want to work towards owning their equipment.
Spread the purchase cost over an agreed term while using the asset in your business. The lender owns the asset during the agreement. Ownership can transfer once all required payments and any option-to-purchase fee have been paid.
What to consider
Consider the deposit, VAT arrangements, regular instalments, any final payment and the total amount payable. Keep the asset insured and check the agreement’s conditions.
Discuss hire purchase ↗Finance lease
For businesses that want to use equipment through an agreed rental arrangement.
The lender purchases and retains ownership of the equipment. Your business pays rentals for an agreed primary period. A finance lease typically recovers substantially the asset’s cost through the agreement.
What to consider
End-of-term arrangements may include continued use through secondary rentals or an agreed sale to a third party. Ownership does not automatically transfer to your business. The available arrangements depend on the lender and agreement.
Discuss finance lease ↗Operating lease
For businesses that want access to equipment for an agreed period without planning to own it.
Pay rentals to use an asset while the lender retains ownership. Pricing takes account of the agreed use and the asset’s expected value at the end of the term. The asset is normally returned when the agreement ends.
What to consider
Check usage limits, maintenance and insurance responsibilities, return conditions and potential charges. Any extension or other end-of-term option must be agreed with the lender.
Discuss operating lease ↗Asset refinance
For businesses looking to release capital from eligible existing assets.
Refinancing can release some of the value held in machinery, equipment or vehicles while you continue to use them. Assets owned outright or subject to existing finance may be considered, depending on the lender.
What to consider
The amount available depends on the asset’s value, condition, existing finance and lender assessment. Existing finance may need to be settled. Compare the new repayments, fees, term and total cost before proceeding.

Ownership or access?
| Structure | Ownership during the agreement | At the end |
|---|---|---|
| Hire purchase | The lender owns the asset while you make the agreed payments. | Ownership can transfer after all required payments and any purchase fee. |
| Finance lease | The lender retains ownership. | Secondary rentals or an agreed third-party sale may be available. No automatic transfer of ownership. |
| Operating lease | The lender retains ownership. | The asset is normally returned, subject to agreed usage and return conditions. |
These are general explanations. Your quotation and agreement set out the actual payments, responsibilities and end-of-term arrangements.
Wider business funding
Support your working capital
and investment plans.
Business loans
For wider business funding requirements beyond acquiring an individual asset.
A business loan provides an agreed amount of funding to be repaid over a set term. It may support working capital, investment or other eligible business purposes, depending on the lender and facility.
What to consider
Review the interest, fees, repayment schedule and total amount payable. Security or personal guarantees may be required. The available amount and terms depend on your business and lender assessment.
Discuss business loans ↗Invoice finance
For businesses seeking funding against eligible unpaid business invoices.
An invoice finance facility can provide access to a proportion of eligible invoice values before customers pay. The remaining balance is released after payment, less the agreed fees and charges.
What to consider
Eligibility depends on your trading activity, customers and invoices. Compare advance levels, service and funding charges, minimum fees, recourse terms and who manages customer collections. Arrangements vary by provider.

Your questions answered
Asset and business finance FAQs.
Can I finance used machinery or vehicles?
New and used assets may be eligible. The lender will consider the equipment’s age, condition, value, supplier and intended use, alongside your business. Share the asset details with us so we can explore the options.
Which businesses can apply?
Eligibility depends on your business’s legal structure, trading history, financial position, the asset and lender criteria. Tell us about your business before making a purchase commitment so we can establish which options may be available.
How much can I borrow, and over what term?
The available amount and term depend on your business, the product and the lender. For asset finance, the asset’s value, age and expected useful life also matter. We will explain the options available for your enquiry rather than quote a standard limit.
Will I need a deposit or an initial rental?
An upfront payment may be required. Its amount, timing and VAT treatment depend on the product, asset and lender. We will explain the proposed payment structure before you decide whether to proceed.
What information should I have ready?
Start with your business name and contact details, the type and value of the asset or funding required, any supplier details and your preferred timescale. Lenders may then request accounts, bank statements, identification or other supporting information.
How long does arranging finance take?
Timing depends on the lender, the information supplied, any asset checks and the documentation required. We will discuss the expected next steps after reviewing your enquiry. Approval and funding are not guaranteed.
Will I need a personal guarantee?
Some lenders or facilities require personal guarantees or other security. This depends on your business and the proposed terms. A guarantee creates personal obligations, so understand its scope and seek independent advice before signing.
Can I refinance an asset that already has finance on it?
It may be possible, subject to the asset’s value, the outstanding balance and lender approval. We will need details of the current agreement and settlement figure. A replacement agreement may change your repayments, term and total cost.
Can I settle the agreement early?
Early settlement options and any charges depend on the lender and agreement. Ask for a written settlement figure and check the terms before committing to a replacement facility or asset sale.
Can you help with an auction or private purchase?
Tell us about the proposed purchase before bidding, paying a deposit or committing to the seller. Supplier, ownership and asset checks may be needed, and finance may not be available for every purchase.
How are you paid?
We receive commission from lenders. Our commission model and further details of the calculation and amount will be disclosed during the application process. Any fees payable by you will be explained before you proceed.
What about VAT and tax treatment?
VAT and tax treatment depend on the product, asset and your circumstances. Your accountant or tax adviser should confirm the implications for your business before you enter an agreement.
